Morning is not my best time. I wake up stiff and sore and usually with our son nestled in between us (he has been waking up at 5am saying “all done!” in his crib and then comes into our bed and falls right asleep). I took my usual ibuprofen, then Zak and I had an Isagenix hot ionic drink and a protein shake (I am really starting to enjoy them! We are now 8 days into the program). We fed Nolan some toast on peanut butter and then they headed out to work and school.
I did my routine of stretches and then did an hour walk around the lake with a friend. Walks really help me to stretch out and I find if I don’t get one in daily, I suffer. More stretching and a long hot shower after the walk help to keep me from stiffening up too much.
In the afternoon at my PT appointment and we discussed my latest visit to St Louis (for my surgical follow-up) and started our plan. It was a good day and I am hopeful that the additions we made will help with the increased weakness in my hands. We added some more strengthening exercises, some putty and a squeeze egg as well as some work with a baseball bat (haha pictures of that later ;)). Zak thinks some of my exercises are hilarious looking, and this will add some fuel to his fire. I promise I will add some pictures at some point. The picture shows just a few of my colorful pieces of equipment and if you have ever been in physical therapy I am sure you know them well!
Today I have hope. It just takes one little step in the right direction to give me the strength to keep going. I will not let TOS win. My life is mine.
